Anna Chiampesan

From 12 June, Anna Chiampesan brings a selection of her expressive figurative paintings to The Ground Café, filling the space with colour, warmth, and quiet emotional depth. Her work explores moments of introspection, tenderness, and human connection, rendered through bold palettes and textured brushwork that draw the viewer into an intimate inner world. Each piece captures a fleeting gesture or mood — a pause, a breath, a dream — inviting visitors to linger and look a little longer.

Anna Chiampesan

I am a figurative artist based in Chelmsford, working primarily in oil, encaustic, and mixed media. My work explores quiet emotional states, intimate gestures, and the inner landscapes we carry within us. I’m drawn to moments of stillness — a lowered gaze, a resting hand, a breath held in thought — and I use bold colour, textured surfaces, and expressive brushwork to give those moments weight and atmosphere.

My paintings often emerge from lived experience and a lifelong fascination with the body as a vessel for memory and feeling.
