Sandra Bell
From the 8th May to the 12 June, Sandra Bell is exhibiting at The Parlour Café Her work pairs finely detailed ink‑drawn birds with soft, atmospheric watercolour washes. Each piece captures a quiet, contemplative moment in nature, set against colour fields that move from cool blues to warm sunset tones.
Sandra Bell
I’m Sandra, the artist behind Doris the Paint and while I’ve always been creative, my full time art journey began two years ago after sixteen years as a local postie.
Growing up by Maldon’s beautiful Blackwater Estuary, I was a latecomer to nature, only discovering the magic of birds at age 50. Since that spark, they’ve become my primary inspiration. My curiosity has since taken me across the British Isles and as far as Panama, a trip that inspired the series I’ll be sharing at this year’s Burnham Art Trail.
My signature style blends vibrant watercolour washes with detailed ink overlays to capture the character and charm of my subjects. When not at my easel, I host workshops to help others bring our feathered friends to life on paper.
