EUGENIA CHEPURNA
Eugenia is a self-taught artist from Ukraine. She is inspired by the motley world around her and obsessed to reflect all of small details. Her passion are flowers and boats, water and sky.

STEPHEN JORDAN
Stephen has exhibited locally and nationally, winning the Essex Open in 2003 and 2006. His paintings are about perspective, changing light, the movement of clouds, and the changes of the season.

NEIL RIDER
Neil was an art and design lecturer in London and now paints for his own enjoyment. His recent work has many influences but is mainly from his imagination.

IAN WARREN
Ian has been pargeting for over 35 years. His recent work is lime on board, which can be hung internally as a picture or externally as pargeting.

FRANCES FRANKLIN
Frances loves experimenting with different media to create work that captures the atmosphere of photographs which she has taken during travels abroad, as well as locally. She is particularly drawn to contrasts and liminal spaces.

KATHRYN HOCKEY
Kathryn is taking a looser, more experimental approach to her pen & wash paintings this year. Inspired by nature, she’s exploring texture, colour and form through mixed media on a small scale.

SUE JONES
Sue Jones is new to the Art Trail. She began painting following retirement 12 years ago, experimenting with acrylic and oil. She draws inspiration from big skies, coasts and surrounding natural beauty.

JOHN GREEN
John is a self-taught artist who enjoys creating composition that removes unnecessary detail to give his watercolours a feeling of contrast and depth.

ROGER BARCROFT
Roger’s work focusses on figurative painting and exploring different approaches to illustrating the human face and body. You are welcome to see his work and studio at The Schoolroom, which he shares with his partner.

MARGARET SKERRITT
Margaret is a ceramicist who uses a wide variety of techniques in her work. She experiments with glazes & images on functional objects and enjoys hand building sculptural forms.

Stephen is an artist who works in acrylics on watercolour paper. His subjects are mainly figures and machines from historic periods. He lives and works in Maldon.

Presenting an intergenerational outdoor workshop on Sat 22 June 10am-3pm with Ellious Woodroof & Hattie Philips. The site specific Hapa Zome, plant printed artworks will be in situ until Sun 30 June.

KEVIN HARBER
Inspired and created from treasures of the saltmarshes, in Kevin's sculptures he tries to capture the atmosphere and beauty of this wild space.

ROGER PERRIN
Roger loves working with acrylic on canvas and board to capture local scenes and topics which take his fancy. He happily enjoys taking commissions for landscapes, wildlife scenes and pets.

SUSAN CLARE
Award-winning painter, Susan is inspired by the sea (above and below), which she interprets in mixed media, acrylic and watercolour with a contemporary impressionistic style. She has studios in Essex and Jamaica.

UTE FUERST
In her second year with the Burnham Art Trail, Ute is exploring ways of transporting mood and light with a limited colour palette. She mostly works in watercolour with occasional visits into other media.

Schools RNLI Project
The schools project for 2024, celebrates the 200th Anniversary of the RNLI. Local schools have worked with the crew of the station in Burnham, creating art and celebrating lifeboat volunteers and the River Crouch.

VINCENT HERNAN
Vince uses a full-frame camera with a wide-angle lens to snap his surroundings. Street photography and attempting to capture unusual form through light and shadow is of particular interest.

Henry's work focusses on identity and environment, and how the two inter-relate.

SUE HODGSON
Sue is a local artist proficient in all media - oil, acrylic, pastel and watercolour, specialising in landscapes, abstracts and portraits, including pets. She also runs two popular art classes each week.

LINDSEY WAY
Lindsey uses ink pens and coloured pencils. She draws mainly British wildlife and captures their individual characteristics in a free and lively style.

Charles' inspiration comes from our riverside country footpaths and his interest in local historical events.

LUCY GREEN
Lucy is a newcomer to the trail and is a keen wildlife photographer. She loves to get up close to her subjects, allowing her to capture intimate and detailed portraits of animals in their natural habitats.

SHARON CHAN
Sharon Chan is a mixed media artist who has recently started to explore working in 3D. She bases her work on the natural environment and found objects juxtaposed against bold primary colours.

JIM BRADSHAW
Jim is a retired art teacher. He invites you to his studio to view his paintings and drawings and enjoy the results of his recent Japanese woodblock printing.

LUCY FOWLER
Lucy works with porcelain producing delicate, decorative and functional highly individual pottery, with lovely, varied finishes through using different firings and handmade individual glazes. Inspiration comes from the beautiful rural surroundings of Bradwell-on-Sea where she teaches pottery.

PHIL LAGDEN
Recently retired, Phil is a self-taught artist who has been sculpting in his studio for several years. He works in wood and clay and takes inspiration from observing nature and people around us.

CAROL CHESHER
Carol is a Chelmsford-based painter and stained glass artist. She draws inspiration from her lifelong love of nature and animals using oil, acrylic and watercolour in her colourful and expressive artwork.

SUE SPIERS
Sue works in watercolour. Favourite subjects are the big skies and light on the water at Burnham, and Thames barges at Maldon.

FRANCES AUSTEN-HARDY
Frances is a maker who enjoys stitch, mixed media and paint. She creates pictorial or abstract works using traditional and modern techniques. Works range from small studies to large wall-hangings.

ANNE HENDRY
Anne creates unique pieces of jewellery from fine silver 999 clay, which is a sustainable product. Her love of nature, colour and art deco is a distinct influence on her designs.

JEAN WEBBER
Jean’s art is inspired by colour, texture and shape. She enjoys creating using different mediums and paints atmospheric landscapes, abstracts and develops collage from navigation charts.

TRISS NORMAN
Focussing on the increasing levels of pollution threatening our seas and waterways has led Triss to create this installation. Utilising found words and poetry has flowed into the supporting artists books and journals.

JOSCELYN MCINNES
Local artist Joscelyn loves boats and sailing. Having owned 2 classic yachts and sailed them to classic boat festivals she is inspired by these beautiful vessels which she paints in watercolours or uses pencil or pen & wash.

MARION SIDEBOTTOM
Marion is a photographer, artist and workshop tutor. Her submission is called Blue Birds and is a collection of British birds in cyanotype, ink and collage on Indian Rag paper, created with pressed plants.

JAMIE CHAPMAN
Jamie once again is tempted from keyboard and screen in his yearly attempt to make his fine art degree worthwhile by painting colourful, weird, rock-inspired portraiture.

Chris has been working on forms of printing for the past couple of years and is learning on the job ways of using various inks and paper and producing hopefully unusual work.

SANDRA BELL
As a postie, mixed media artist Sandra takes inspiration from the colour, nature and history on her delivery route. Birds are a particular favourite which she captures in watercolour, ink and coloured pencil.

TRACY SAUNDERS
Tracy's paintings of abandoned, rotting hulls, sinking into the white of the paper, continues her exploration of the process of ageing and weathering along the riverbanks and estuaries of Essex.

Mike is passionate about the environment, using found and waste materials that would otherwise end up in landfill. The natural world inspires his exquisitely crafted sculptural pieces, reflecting nature’s unique forms.

Coral is a textile artist drawn to hand embroidery. She enjoys the meditative feel of pulling the needle and thread through fabric, letting the stitches take her on a journey into colour and texture.

A textile artist using a wide variety of techniques, fabrics and threads to achieve depth of colour and interesting textures in her range of jewellery, accessories and pictures. Mainly taking inspiration from the saltmarsh coast.
